Press the Button to set up your sound (98, XP, & 2000 only)

Press this button to automatically setup your windows 98 or XP sound system.

Here's what it does:

1) Makes sure your sound isn't muted

Did you get an error message?

This can appear when you remove a USB sound device from your system. Other sound cards may not re-establish themselves as the default sound device correctly, resulting in this message.

You can still use Shakti in spite of this error, but you should re-install the drivers for your sound card.

Switch to 'headphones" failed? If you are running Windows Vista, ignore it.

If you are running XP, click
HERE to do any of these jobs manually

2) Mutes your microphone (this doesn't mean it's disabled. It means that your microphone input isn't being added to the signals).

3) "Zeros" your treble and bass. Don't worry if your device has no treble and Bass. Treble and bass are handled by the Shakti player, and it's settings are loaded each time the player is used.

4) Sets Your multimedia Control Panel. This adjustment makes sure that your control panel's sound is set to give you a clean separation of left and right channels.

5) Turns off windows special effects (like 3D, surround sound or "digital out"). These mix the sound between the two stereo channels.

Note: If you are using an additional software to manage your sound, you should turn it off. These are usually multimedia players or equalizers by the sound card manufacturers or sound player that 'take over' your system.
