Setting the Volume for Windows Vista

 

 

The sound settings for windows Vista are much simpler than for earlier versions.

Under Windows Vista there is only one setting you need to set by hand.

You'll need to open the windows mixer while a sound from Shakti is running.

Then, you need to set the volume for Shakti, which will appear in the mixer. After that, the volume will be set to the same level each time you use Shakti. To change the volume, you will need to do this again. You can access the mixer directly by clicking on th espeaker icon in the taskbar, near where the date and time are shown. For most desktop sound cards, 25% is a good level for the Shakti signals (see the picture below), and for most laptops, 50% is a good level.

When you opened this page, you ran a utility that set your 'master volume' to 100%. This means that the full volume was made available for Shakti, even though it only uses some of the volume.

Setting your volume from this page ensures that you will only have to adjust one slider.
